When I was a kid, my parents told me not to follow my dreams.

Not because they didn’t love me. Not because they didn’t care about me. Not because they didn’t want me to be happy. But because they didn’t know better. They wanted me to take the safe path in life because the thought of me chasing my dreams and potentially failing… was heartbreaking.

Passion-projects carry risk. Risk means failure. And failure?

Pain.

In their minds, discouraging my dreams was “what’s best for me.” They wanted me to be comfortable. But in this world, comfort doesn’t buy success. You know what does? Ambition.

The truth is, my parents, your parents, and society in general… hell, even our education system… is behind on the times. We’re living in the digital age. An age where anyone, from any background, with any passion, can create value for the world without ever needing to sign on the dotted line of a job application.

It’s the first time in history where the barrier to entry for becoming an entrepreneur is essentially nonexistent. In today’s world, you don’t need an expensive piece of paper to anoint you a successful person. If you want something, go out and get it. No one’s stopping you.

No one can stop you.

Frankly, the only people I feel bad for are the entrepreneurs NOT making use of social media right now to build their dream lives. They’re in for a rude awakening when people like you and me pass them by.

So congratulations. You made it in, and you’re one of us. By enrolling in Viral Academy you’ve demonstrated that you are one of the select few individuals who dare to be ambitious.

Here at Jumpcut, we’ve fostered a community of people just like you. Ambitious risk-takers that will stop at nothing to achieve their dream life and break-free from the traditional path. You’re in good company. But before you dive into the course, I want to invite you to take part in a special tradition that all of our students go through.

We call it: Taking the Jumpcut Creator Pledge.

Let me explain:

One of the most life-changing ideas I’ve come across is the power of living by a personal “code.” I've found that when you write down your life philosophy on paper, and sign your name on it, your mindset changes completely.

You evolve into the exact type of person that you want to become. The person you deserve to become. And as you go through Viral Academy, you will need to adapt. Improve. And constantly push yourself.

That’s why we created the Pledge, which you’ll see below. We’ve distilled the most important mindsets -- the keys to our success -- into this pledge. Taking it will help you smash through any obstacles standing in the way of your goals. It will give you the motivation you need to fight through any brick walls that come before you. And it will mentally prepare you for the journey ahead.

Listen - starting a successful YouTube channel isn’t easy. But that shouldn’t bother you. Because you’ve got an exact, step-by-step roadmap to follow.

Most people don’t.

So whenever you’re feeling disappointed, discouraged, or lost... I want you to look at this pledge and remind yourself that you do have what it takes to be successful. More than enough. You just need to put in the work.

With that said, here’s what I want you to do now:

1. Read through our pledge below, and internalize the message.
2. Print it out and sign your name in the blank spots.
3. Take a picture of yourself holding the Pledge and post it in the “Introduce Yourself” section of the forum.

This will serve as your official introduction and will make you a true member of the Jumpcut community. A year from today, you’ll look back on this moment in amazement at how much you’ve grown and accomplished.
